熊本地震に対する祈りと連帯の表明　世界福音同盟・アジア福音同盟議長　ゴッドフリー・ヨガラジャ師からの言葉

2026年7月28日午後4時27分ごろに熊本で発生した大きな地震を覚え、祈りと連帯を表明いたします。
すでにJEAの援助協力委員会では情報収集にあたると同時に協力団体の皆さんとの情報交換に努めています。

また、今回この熊本地震に対していち早く、世界福音同盟の議長ゴッドフリー・ヨガラジャ先生からお言葉をいただきました。翻訳文と原文を掲載いたします。

親愛なる岩上先生、神戸先生

私たちの主イエス・キリストの御名によって、恵みと平安があなたがたにありますように。

7月28日に熊本県および九州地方一帯を襲ったマグニチュード7.1の壊滅的な地震の報に接し、世界福音同盟（WEA）およびアジア福音同盟（AEA）を代表して、深い悲しみのうちにこの手紙を書いています。建物の倒壊、火災、道路や橋の損壊、さらには嘉島町のイオンモールの一部崩落により、多数の従業員や買い物客が閉じ込められ、NHKによれば少なくとも50人が病院へ搬送されたとのニュースに、私たちは大きな衝撃を受けています。

どうかご承知ください。今この時、アジア全域、そして世界中の福音派の家族が、日本、とりわけ熊本と九州の地域社会のために祈りを捧げています。私たちは、いまだ閉じ込められている方々や安否不明の方々が一刻も早く無事に救出されるように、また負傷された方々とそのご家族に慰めと癒やしが与えられるように祈っています。さらに、緊急対応にあたる方々、自衛隊、そして救援活動を指揮・調整しているすべての方々に知恵と力が与えられるよう祈っています。また、避難や移動を余儀なくされている多くの方々のことを覚え、余震が続く中、神の守りの御手がこの地域の上にあるよう祈っています。

岩上先生、そして神戸先生、どうかこの時に、あなたがたお二人と日本福音同盟（JEA）の皆さまが私たちの心の中で特別に覚えられていることを知ってください。今後数日のうちに状況がより明らかになるにつれ、祈りの呼びかけ、加盟同盟への情報共有、あるいは実際的な支援など、WEAやAEAのネットワークが皆さまに寄り添い、お役に立てることがあれば、どうぞ遠慮なくお知らせください。また、被災地域の教会やキリスト教コミュニティがどのような状況に置かれているかについても、ぜひ近況をお知らせいただければ幸いです。その情報を私たちのネットワークに共有し、必要に応じて適切な支援へとつなげてまいります。

この困難な時にあって、あなたがた、諸教会、そして日本の人々が深く愛されていること、そして私たちが絶えず祈り続けていることをお伝えします。

Dear Rev Timothy and Rev. Kambe,

Grace and peace to you both in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I write with a heavy heart on behalf of the World Evangelical Alliance and the Asia Evangelical Alliance, having learned of the devastating 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture and the wider Kyushu region on July 28th. The news of collapsed buildings, fires, damaged roads and bridges, and the partial collapse of the Aeon Mall in Kashima Town — trapping dozens of employees and shoppers, with NHK reporting at least 50 people taken to hospital — is deeply distressing .
Please know that the wider evangelical family across Asia and around the world is holding Japan, and especially the communities of Kumamoto and Kyushu, in prayer at this hour. We pray for the swift and safe rescue of all those still trapped or unaccounted for, for comfort and healing for the injured and their families, and for wisdom and strength for the emergency responders, the Self-Defense Forces, and all those coordinating relief efforts. We also pray for the many thousands who have been displaced or evacuated, and for God’s protecting hand over the region as aftershocks continue.
Timothy, and Rev. Kanbe, please know that you and the entire JEA family are close to our hearts in this moment. If there is any way the WEA or AEA network can stand alongside you — whether through prayer mobilization, communication with our wider member alliances, or practical support as needs become clearer in the coming days — please do not hesitate to call on us. We would also be grateful for any updates on how the churches and Christian communities in the affected areas are coping, so that we can inform our networks and direct support appropriately.
You, your churches, and the people of Japan are deeply loved and are in our continual prayers during this difficult time.
